Gathering of eight leaves loosely sewn in faded pink paper cover with pasted label on front. Manuscript essay by Cicognara on the life of Titian. The stated purpose of this text is to emphasize the artistic and moral merits of the painter that led to his fame and recognition, and not to repeat what many known writers had already said about him. He extolls Titian's rich correspondence with highly cultured intellectuals (such as Bembo, Dolce, Accolti, Ariosto, Aretino), which helped him sharpen his mind and enrich his art.
